Tottenham interested in signing 24-year-old striker who scored 33 goals in 2019/20
Tottenham keen on Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth
According to The Times, Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new striker has led them to Crystal Palace forward Alexander Sorloth, who is currently out on loan at Trabzonspor.
The 24-year-old Sorloth started out at the academy of Norwegian outfit Rosenborg and had stints at Bodo/Glimt, Groningen and FC Midtjylland before he signed for Crystal Palace in January 2018.
However, his time at Palace wasn’t a major success, as he made just 20 appearances in one year, scoring and assisting one goal apiece before being loaned out to Belgian outfit Genk for the second half of the 2018/19 season.
Last summer saw Sorloth join Turkish outfit Trabzonspor on a two-year loan deal. And the 24-year-old thrived at his new club, bagging a highly-impressive 33 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions. In addition, he also racked up 11 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)

It is no secret that Jose Mourinho & co. are in desperate need of a new centre-forward to cover and support star striker Harry Kane. However, the club hasn’t been able to sign anyone up until this point. With Sorloth now on the radar, it remains to be seen if there is any movement on this front.
Trabzonspor president himself has confirmed that Sorloth wants to leave and the club are in negotiations with Tottenham, Crystal Palace as well as RB Leipzig, who are also keen on the striker. (h/t Evening Standard)
Mourinho, however, was coy and didn’t give too much away when quizzed about the interest in the 24-year-old. (h/t Evening Standard)
“I’m not going to discuss Sorloth. If the president of Trabzonspor told that I’m not going to say that it’s not true.”

Sorloth wasn’t able to make an impact in the Premier League while at Palace. However, he has been in fine form over the past year and can be a handy addition to the ranks.
