Two names off the table as Tottenham Hotspur pursue new striker signing
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update into the Tottenham Hotspur search for a backup striker.
Harry Kane has been the lone senior striker in the team since Fernando Llorente left the club in the summer of 2019. While the England captain is one of the best in the business, expecting him to play each and every game is an experiment fraught with false hope.
In fact, his injury last January saw us struggle to be forced to use options such as Son Heung-Min, Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn, and even Dele Alli upfront.
No Andrea Belotti [he’s gonna stay @ Torino] and no Alexander Sørloth [he’s joining RB Leipzing on a permanent deal] as new Tottenham backup striker. The club is going to complete Bale deal and to announce Reguilon signing on next hours, then they’ll go for a new striker ⚪️ #THFC

While these players performed to their best, the clinical incision that a specialist brought to the table was missing.
The club, however, seems to have learned their lesson and are now ready to bring in a backup for Kane. Torino’s Andrea Belotti and Crystal Palace’s Alexander Sorloth were amongst the names under consideration.
Romano, however, has claimed that neither of them will now make their way to the Lane. While Belotti looks to stay on in Italy, Sorloth appears to be on his way to RB Leipzig.
We also look set to miss out on two more players on our radar. RB Salzburg’s Patson Daka is keen to stay on in Austria while Southampton will not entertain an offer for Danny Ings.
Despite the setbacks, the club still appears to be keen on bringing in a striker. The current focus remains on announcing the signings of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon.
Once that is completed, we can look to secure what could be the final piece of the Spurs puzzle for 2020/21.

The signing Reguilon will give the club a much-needed boost on the left-flank. With Matt Doherty now on the other side, we could finally have a full-back pair that can be depended upon.
