Tottenham retain hope in the pursuit of 24-year-old Norwegian ace with PL experience

Tottenham Hotspur retain hope in Alexander Sorloth pursuit

According to SportBuzzer via Sport Witness (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur still have hope in their pursuit of Alexander Sorloth.

The Norwegian looked to be on his way to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. However, his medical at the German side has now been cancelled, leading to further speculation regarding his future.

The 24-year-old is no stranger to the Premier League having signed with Crystal Palace in 2018. He has however struggled to make an impact and was sent out on loan two times.

Sorloth spent the entirety of the 2019/20 season at the Turkish side Trabzonspor. He showcased just what he can do, scoring 33 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions. In addition, he also racked up 11 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)

According to Turkish outlet Asist Analiz (h/t Football.london), the player has received an offer from a big English club. The report goes on to add that it could be either Tottenham or Manchester United.

It is no secret at Spurs are in need of a striker. Harry Kane is the only senior forward in the squad, leaving us short of options if the need arises.

Not adding a reliable backup to the English skipper would see us make the same mistake we did going into the 2019/20 season. Our Europa League participation ensures a busy schedule and it is unreasonable to expect Kane to play every single game.

While Sorloth’s previous experience in England is hardly worth mentioning, he is now a different player who looks to have rediscovered his touch.

Adding a striker would cap off what has been an excellent window for Tottenham. While the likes of Joe Hart, Emile Pierre-Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty have been shrewd acquisitions, bringing in Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon shows the club mean business.

Add Sorloth to that list and the squad will be well equipped for the 2020/21 season.
