Hertha Berlin considering swoop for Tottenham star Moussa Sissoko

According to German publication BILD, as relayed by The Sun, Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin are considering a late deadline day swoop for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

The 31-year-old French international joined Tottenham from Newcastle United in the summer of 2016. The midfielder took a while to get going at the club but over the past year or so, has grown into a key member of the side.

Particularly under Jose Mourinho, Sissoko has taken up the responsibility of being a leader and has fit in well with the Portuguese’s footballing ethos, even though injuries have often limited his game time.

To date, Sissoko has racked up 165 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur, scoring four goals and assisting fifteen more. The French international has featured in five matches so far this term and was particularly impressive in our 6-1 thrashing of Manchester United on Sunday evening.

However, as per the aforementioned report, Hertha Berlin are plotting an ambitious swoop for the £80,000-a-week Tottenham Hotspur star. It is claimed that the Bundesliga giants want the Frenchman on a season-long loan while adding that Tottenham might consider letting him leave to trim down the wage bill after the summer expenditure.

Sissoko is an important player for Tottenham, not just on the field but in the dressing room as well. The midfielder has played a key role in helping compatriot Tanguy Ndombele settle down at the club after a rocky season.

Given the value that he brings to the team, coupled with his volume of experience, Tottenham shouldn’t be letting him leave, especially this late in the window.
