Dennis Cirkin set to sign a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur

According to Football Insider (h/t Football.london), young Tottenham Hotspur defender Dennis Cirkin is set for a new long-term contract with the club.

The 18-year-old Cirkin is a product of the club’s youth academy. He has featured 25 times for the club’s U18 team, scoring four goals and setting up two more. The left-back has also turned out nine times for the U23s as well, assisting a solitary goal. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Cirkin is yet to make a single appearance for the Tottenham first-team as of yet. However, he did make the substitutes’ bench three times in the 2019/20 campaign. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The youngster featured heavily during the pre-season and is effectively the third-choice left-back at Tottenham now, following Ryan Sessegnon’s loan move to TSG Hoffenheim and Danny Rose’s exile from the first-team picture.

Cirkin is behind just Ben Davies and new signing Sergio Reguilon in the pecking order and could be in line for some involvement over the course of the season, given the fixture pile-up.

And now, the youngster is set to put pen on a new long-term contract with the club. This comes after the left-back had penned his first-ever professional contract with the club only last summer. (h/t Football.london)

The report claims that the two parties are very close to arriving at an agreement over the terms of the contract and a deal could be finalised soon.

The 18-year-old left-back has been singled out for praise by manager Jose Mourinho in the past. So, the new deal shouldn’t come as a major surprise. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait for long to see him in action for the first-team.
