Luis Enrique provides a promising update on Tottenham Hotspur star Sergio Reguilon

According to Football.London, Spain manager Luis Enrique has given a positive update on the status of Tottenham Hotspur star Sergio Reguilon.

The left-back was injured playing for his country against Portugal. One of our best players this season, his condition was looked at on with worried eyes by Spurs fans.

Having played a part in Sevilla’s successful Europa League run last season, Reguilon was seen as surplus to requirement at Real Madrid. His signing is nothing short of a coup for Tottenham.

Following the game against Portugal, Enrique believed it was not a serious injury but that the doctors would have to make sure.

“Reguilon had a knock and we had to change him at the break but he is training at 100 per cent and he is available.”

The Spain boss has now confirmed that Reguilon is fine and available. He is now in contention to face Switzerland in Saturday’s Nations League game. Enrique also confirmed that the player is back in full training.

While it is heartening to see that the player is fine, his return to training this quick will raise a few eyebrows. Reguilon has what it takes to be a key player for us this season. The prospect of forcing him to return to action early is a risk we can do without.

The 23-year-old has made three appearances for Spurs so far, assisting one goal. He played a key role in our 6-1 humiliation of Manchester United at Old Trafford.
