Son Heung-min seems to be in line for a new contract at Tottenham

Tottenham are keen on securing the future of  Son Heung-min by handing him a new contract, according to the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old South Korean has started this season in fine form. Son has scored seven times and assisted twice in just five Premier League games this season.

His partnership with Harry Kane has been incredible too, with the Englishman racking up 5 goals and 7 assists in the same number of games.

The report claims that extending Son’s stay is a priority for Spurs. Son is set to enter the final two years of his contract at the end of the season and Daniel Levy doesn’t want that to happen (h/t Daily Mail).

The South Korean earns £150,000-per-week (h/t Daily Mail) and the new contract should see a significant bump in pay too.

Spurs have been bitten once regarding their contract situation. Christian Eriksen left for just £17m after entering the final 12 months of his deal (h/t Daily Mail).

Other futures to be discussed

Erik Lamela and Serge Aurier are also two other stars who will be free agents at the end of the season. However, their futures will also be discussed in the coming weeks, according to the report.

Son is one of the best in the Premier League and it is imperative we keep hold of him. The South Korean is extremely consistent and his form since the start of the season has been incredible.

Another reason why Spurs want to keep him is his popularity in the Asian market (h/t Daily Mail). The South Korean might be earning £150,000-a-week but it would be hard to argue he doesn’t deserve a new contract after his performances over the past three years or so.
