Luka Modric doesn’t believe a return to Tottenham is possible

Former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric has shared his plans for the future and that doesn’t include a return to London.

The Croatian became one of the best in the world after signing for Tottenham. However, Real Madrid came calling in 2012 and Modric moved to Spain for a fee of £30m (h/t Daily Star).

Modric had spent close to four years with Spurs and has been immensely successful for the La Liga giants.

His teammate at Spurs and Madrid, Gareth Bale, recently made a sensational return to London. However, Modric doesn’t believe such a return is possible due to his age.

The 35-year-old was speaking to FourFourTwo and claimed he is concentrating on his time at Madrid (h/t Daily Star):

“I’m too old to go back to Tottenham.

“I still have a year left in Madrid and then we’ll see what happens. I feel good and I want to continue playing football for a few more years. I am focused on Madrid and the things we can achieve this season.”

The Croatian added that he will decide his future after his contract is up and then take a suitable call.

Experience for the Spurs midfield

Modric’s return would have been another incredible tale. However, the Croatian is right in saying that he is a little too old for a return to the Premier League.

We also have quite a decent midfield with the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Eric Dier, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovanni Lo Celso and other stars trying to cement their place in the side.
