Sergio Reguilon set to miss Tottenham’s Europa League game against Ludogorets

Speaking in his pre-match press conference (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that new signing Sergio Reguilon will miss Thursday’s game against Ludogorets due to illness.

Tottenham will be aiming to return to winning ways in the European competition, after succumbing to a surprise defeat against Royal Antwerp last week. However, the team will have to do so without the services of Reguilon. The Spaniard is out of the contest with an illness. (h/t Football.london)

“Reguilon is ill but not a Covid situation, just flu and we don’t want him to be with the team.”

Mourinho also confirmed that he will not be using Erik Lamela and Serge Aurier for Thursday’s game as they were nursing minor injury problems. (h/t Football.london)

“Lamela was having a little problem for a few weeks. And after the last game, we decided that was the moment to stop and have this week plus the two weeks of internationals out to recover fully. And Aurier a little problem, nothing important.”

There was some positive news though, as Japhet Tanganga was seen training with the rest of the team on Wednesday. However, it is unlikely that the youngster will be rushed back for the Ludogorets clash.

It will be interesting to see if Mourinho decides to rotate his troops for the game. The manager was not pleased with some of the backup players such as Dele Alli after the Antwerp game and might refrain from making many changes.

However, one player who is certain to start on Thursday is Gareth Bale, with Mourinho confirming as much earlier this week.
