Report: Tottenham join arch-rivals in pursuit of 20-year-old European starlet

Tottenham to rival Arsenal in Dominik Szoboszlai pursuit

According to a report from 90min.com (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are set to rival bitter enemies Arsenal in the race to sign Hungarian sensation Dominik Szoboszlai.

Having started out at the Videoton academy in Hungary, the versatile midfielder signed for RB Salzburg in January 2018. And the youngster has been a huge hit in Austria already. In 74 appearances so far for the club, he has bagged 22 goals and 33 assists. He has also made twelve appearances for Hungarian national team.

Szoboszlai enjoyed a brilliant 2019/20 campaign during which he plundered 12 goals and 18 assists from 40 games in all competitions. And the 20-year-old has carried on from where he left off this term, already registering 5 goals and 9 assists in just 13 games for RB Salzburg.

A versatile operator who can play on the flanks or as an attacking midfielder, Szoboszlai has been on the radars of our rivals Arsenal for quite some time now. And, ahead of the January transfer window, it is being claimed that they are the front-runners to land his signing. (h/t Football.london)

However, that doesn’t seem to have discouraged Tottenham, who have now entered the race to land the Hungarian international. (h/t Football.london)

With Dele Alli being frozen out of the squad by Jose Mourinho, adding another goal-scoring creative midfielder in January would certainly be a boost for Tottenham. And given the form that Szoboszlai is in currently, he would certainly bolster the quality of our squad.

However, along with Arsenal, a host of other clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have all registered an interest. (h/t Football.london)
