Jose Mourinho rules out Harry Winks loan exit in January
As reported by the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out a loan exit for midfielder Harry Winks ahead of the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old midfielder, a product of the Tottenham youth academy, has found it hard to nail down a place in the starting XI this season. Winks has hardly been used in the Premier League, with most of his playing time coming in the UEFA Europa League.
Indeed, the last time the England international featured in a league game was in mid-October against West Ham United. He didn’t even make the matchday squad for our weekend draw against Crystal Palace. Winks had admitted that his situation was a bit of a concern with the Euros coming up next year.
This has led to speculations over his future at the club, with Everton reported to be interested in the Englishman. However, manager Jose Mourinho has put all those speculations to bed in one fell swoop, insisting that Winks will be going nowhere in the winter transfer window. (h/t Daily Mail)
“‘In relation to Winks (leaving) on loan in January, no way.”
The Portuguese admitted to have had private talks with the midfielder over his situation but wasn’t forthcoming on the details of the conversation. However, it seems like the 24-year-old is set to stay put at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the new year.

Winks, so far this season, has featured 11 times in all competitions. The midfielder has chipped in with a solitary goal in the process.
It is understandable where the player is coming from, given the lack of playing time. However, with us being competing on multiple fronts and the fixture pile-up ahead, he is bound to get his chances.
