Jose Mourinho reveals his problem with Jurgen Klopp as he tells him Liverpool didn’t deserve to win
Speaking to Amazon after the match against Liverpool on Thursday (h/t Mirror), Jose Mourinho said that he would be sent off to the stands if he behaved like Jurgen Klopp on the touchline.
Mourinho also told his German counterpart that the better team lost on the night. Liverpool opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a deflected goal for Mohamed Salah.
Son Heung-min put away his one-on-one chance to level the scoreline for Tottenham Hotspur just 7 minutes later. From thereon, both teams had chances to win the game.
Steven Bergwijn came closest in the 63rd minute when he hit the post after being put clean through on goal by Son.
After Spurs squandered their chances to win all 3 points, Roberto Firmino scored from an Andy Robertson corner in the last minute of regulation time.
This prompted Jose Mourinho to let Klopp know on the touchline that his team did not deserve the win on the night.
“I told him the best team lost. He disagreed. That’s his opinion.”
The former Manchester United manager followed it up by questioning Klopp’s antics on the sidelines. Both Mourinho and Klopp are famous for being fervent on the touchline.
However, Mourinho believed Klopp overstepped his boundaries and that he would have been sent off if it was him in place of Klopp.
“By the way, if I behaved the way on the touchline like he does, I have no chance to stay there – and I’m out.”
The Spurs boss clarified at the end that there is no bad blood between the two, and that the referees let Klopp get away with what he does. (h/t Mirror)

When Jurgen Klopp was told about Mourinho’s comments on his touchline behaviour, he downplayed the issue.
“I thought he said to me the better team lost. Nothing about my behaviour on the touchline.”
The result sees Liverpool leapfrog Spurs to sit at the top of the table. Tottenham remain second, just a point above Leicester City and Southampton.
