Everton urged to move for Tottenham star Harry Winks in January

Speaking to Football Insider (h/t Football.london), former Tottenham Hotspur forward Darren Bent has urged Everton to raid the North London outfit for the signing of Harry Winks in January.

The 24-year-old Spurs academy graduate has been a regular for the side since breaking into the first-team a few years ago. However, he has struggled for game-time under Jose Mourinho in the ongoing campaign.

With the European Championships coming up next year, Winks has admitted to having concerns over his situation at the club. And, this has led to speculations over his future at the club, with Everton reported to be interested.

And, Bent, who played for Tottenham, has urged the Toffees to move for the England international in the upcoming transfer window.

“That would be a very good signing, that would make more sense to me than a Khedira. I know people are going to say: ‘Oh Khedira, Champions League,’ but we need to look at the here and now. Here and now, Harry Winks is fit, he gets about the pitch, he’s an international so to me it makes a lot more sense.”

A move, however, is extremely unlikely after manager Jose Mourinho recently insisted that there is no chance Winks would be allowed to leave in January.

Furthermore, the Portuguese tactician took to social media to praise the England international for his display against Stoke City on Wednesday. When the club’s official Instagram account posted a picture of Winks giving his post-match interview along with the caption ‘Man of the Match, Mourinho commented ‘Deserved’.

As things stand, Winks staying put at Tottenham in the January transfer window looks the likeliest outcome.
