According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho is keeping a close eye on the contract situation of veteran Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos.

One of the best defenders of the modern era, Ramos has been with Real Madrid for close to fifteen years now and has won numerous titles and trophies during his time at the club.

However, the 34-year-old’s future has become a topic of speculation as he is set to enter the final six months of his contract with Los Blancos. Indeed, Ramos’ current deal with the La Liga champions runs out at the end of the season.

And, it is now being claimed that Jose Mourinho is keeping tabs on the situation, with a view of making a move for him as he eyes a defensive addition in the mould of Thiago Silva at Chelsea.

Tottenham strengthened the defence in the summer with the signing of Joe Rodon from Swansea City. However, being able to call upon a seasoned campaigner and serial winner like Ramos would be a total game-changer for us.

Mourinho knows Ramos very well, with the pair having worked together for three years when the Portuguese managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013. However, Tottenham are not the only club keeping an eye on his situation with Paris Saint-Germain also said to be interested in the Spaniard. (h/t Daily Mail)

Despite being 34 years of age, Ramos remains a top-class player and has been an influential figure for Real Madrid this season. Signing him, without a doubt, would be a huge coup. However, any move would hinge on his contract negotiations with the Spanish club.
