Reguilon admits he tried to convince Sergio Ramos to move to Tottenham

Speaking to Spanish publication AS, as reported by Football.london, Tottenham star Sergio Reguilon has admitted that he tried to convince Real Madrid captain and legend, Sergio Ramos, to join him at the club.

The veteran defender has entered the final year of his current contract with Real Madrid, leading to speculations over his future at the club. Amidst this, it was reported that Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is keeping a close eye on the situation, as he looks for a reunion with the centre-back.

Now, Reguilon, who joined Tottenham from Real Madrid in the past summer window, has admitted that he did bring up a move to Spurs during a conversation with Los Blancos’ skipper.

“If I can try to convince him to come to Tottenham? He didn’t listen to me much! [laughs] Of course, yes. In fact, I already spoke to him the other day…”

However, the Tottenham full-back did insist that he expects things to work out between Ramos and Real Madrid leading to the Spaniard signing a new deal at the club.

“I think it will work out eventually. For Madrid and Sergio. Seen from the outside, I don’t see a Madrid without Ramos.”

Ramos has been with Real Madrid for close to fifteen years now. A legend of the game, the Spanish centre-back has won almost every trophy up for grabs in his career. Signing someone of his quality, despite of his advancing age, would be no short of a coup for Tottenham.

It, however, remains to be seen if Ramos decides to leave at the end of the season or commits his future to Real Madrid.
