Jose Mourinho told by Glenn Hoddle on how to get the best out of Gareth Bale

Speaking to talkSPORT (h/t Metro), former Tottenham Hotspur star Glenn Hoddle stated that giving Gareth Bale more minutes on the pitch is the best way for Jose Mourinho to use him.

Bale joined Spurs on loan from Real Madrid this summer. The fans were understandably thrilled as the Welshman made a return to the club where he spent more than 6 years.

He then left for Real Madrid in the summer of 2013. Despite having won numerous titles in Spain, he grew out of favour in recent years.

However, his return to Spurs has been underwhelming, to say the least. He has made just 1 Premier League start and his goal against Brighton and Hove Albion in November remains the highlight of his second spell at the club.

Bale needs more minutes

And now, Hoddle has advised Jose Mourinho on how to get the best out of the Welshman. The former England international says that Bale looks fragile and that his work rate is dropping uncharacteristically.

“He’s got to put his foot in a bit more when he goes to beat people. He just looks a bit fragile.”

Hoddle states that the Portuguese manager should accord more game time to Bale and hope he regains his form and proves himself.

“He’s just got to get on the pitch to do it and at the moment it seems Jose’s reluctant to give him any minutes.”

Bale has featured in cup games more than he has in the league. He has 6 Europa League appearances this season, as well as 1 appearance each in the Carabao Cup as well as the FA Cup.

Tottenham have a long gap till their next game now, and Bale would be hoping he could feature against Wycombe Wanderers on 25th January in the FA Cup and impress his manager into giving him more starts.
