Mourinho confirms Ben Davies picked up a knock ahead of Liverpool game

Speaking after the win against Wycombe Wanderers (h/t Football.london), Jose Mourinho admitted Ben Davies has picked up a knock during the game, as Tottenham get ready to face Liverpool later this week.

Tottenham defeated the EFL Championship outfit 4-1 in the FA Cup fourth-round contest on Monday night. Having gone behind early, Spurs mounted a comeback with Gareth Bale equalising before late goals from Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele led us to a win.

The victory has helped the team build up some steam ahead of the pivotal Premier League fixture against Liverpool on later this week. The Reds haven’t been in the best of form and will be there for the taking when they visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night.

However, there was one negative to come out of the contest as Ben Davies has picked up a knock and had to be taken off late in the game.

“I didn’t see huge fatigue. Ben Davies was just a bad feeling, I hope it is not anything on his calf, so hopefully we managed to play and not have big injuries or fatigue and not to have extra time.”

What it means about Davies’ potential involvement in the game against Liverpool remains to be seen. The Welshman had been preferred over Sergio Reguilon in the reverse fixture against the Reds earlier in the season.

He had also started in our most recent Premier League game against Sheffield United, as a part of a back three, with Reguilon starting as the wing-back.

It now remains to be seen if Ben Davies will be available for selection for Tottenham against Liverpool later this week. A win against the reigning champions would take us into the top four.
