Jose Mourinho full of praise for Tottenham players after West Brom win
Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has hailed his players’ desire and attitude after the win against West Brom.
Tottenham came into Sunday’s game having lost their last three and desperately needed a win. And their chances were majorly boosted as Harry Kane made a swift return from injury to start against the Baggies.
After a solid first-half display in which we should have taken the lead, Tottenham went in front after the break through Kane, who slotted in with composure after being played in by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. This was followed by a fine finish from Son Heung-min to make it 2-0 and lead the team to a comfortable victory.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho hailed the team’s efforts and desire as they worked hard to get back to winning ways after a disappointing run of results.
“I loved the compromise of the players. The effort, the determination, the clear wish to show everyone how together they are and how much they were suffering with the bad results and how much they wanted the victory. That was the fundamental thing.”
Touching upon the performance in the game, Mourinho insisted that Tottenham should have killed the game off in the first half itself while stressing that the team was full of confidence and positivity at half-time.
“In the first half we were dominant and could have killed the game. At half-time we had confidence, we were positive, I only spoke to them for one minute. We were going in the right direction.”
