Ex-PL star insists Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho lucky that fans are not allowed in stadiums
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho lucky no fans are allowed, claims Kevin Campbell
Speaking to Football Insider (h/t Express), former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho is lucky that fans are not allowed into stadiums.
Tottenham are going through a bit of a rut out on the pitch. And even though the team put up a fine performance in the UEFA Europa League against Wolfsberger AC, the displays, in general, have been disheartening to see from a fan’s perspective.
While there was not much to complain early in the campaign with the results going Tottenham’s way, Campbell is of the belief that the fans wouldn’t have accepted things as the way they are now, adding that the Portuguese was lucky that supporters aren’t allowed into stadiums due to the pandemic.
“I have quite a few friends, believe it or not, who support Spurs and let me tell you they are not happy. Mourinho is getting away with it because there are no fans there. He was getting away with the way they were playing earlier in the season because they were winning.
“Now that they are not winning, a magnifying class is being shined on him. What is going on? Have Spurs really improved? I don’t think they have. Look at them now, they are falling like a stone.”

Mourinho has come under an increased amount of pressure following a run of results that has seen Tottenham drop down to ninth in the table. The side looks a far cry from the one that was pushing for the title early in the season. And, it doesn’t help that the style of play is quite uninspiring, to say the least.
Goes without saying that the Portuguese needs to spark a turnaround at the earliest in the league. The game against West Ham on Sunday will be a test and a win there should boost the morale within the team.
