Eric Dier urges Tottenham teammates to step up their game and get the season back on track
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham star Eric Dier has urged his Spurs teammates to rise to the occasion and resurrect their season in the coming weeks.
Top of the league in December, Jose Mourinho’s side have failed to keep up their good start to the season. A run of five defeats in the last six games has seen them drop to ninth spot in the standings.
While a title charge appears to be out of the question, a top-four finish could still be on the cards. Although we are nine points off fourth place, there is still time to turn it around.
“It’s no secret we’ve been going through a difficult time and now’s the time that as a group we’ve got to all step up and work together to push through this moment.”
Tottenham were comprehensive in their 4-0 win over Wolfsberger on Wednesday. They will now aim to carry forward that momentum when they face Crystal Palace at the weekend.
Dier is happy with the win over the Austrians but believes it will amount to little until we can regain our consistency. With the season nearing its business end, there is still much to be played for. Spurs risk missing out unless they can get our act together and get back to winning ways.
“The result (against Wolfsberger) is nice, but we know it’s just a small step and we need to find our consistency again, find our level again and everyone is pushing in the right direction to achieve that.”
There also appear to be off the field issues as some players are unhappy with Jose Mourinho’s training methods. The manager’s job has also come under the scrutiny of late and adds to our woes. (h/t Mirror)
Whatever may be the truth of the matter, the season is far from done and it is about time the squad as a whole put aside its differences and focused on maximising our output for the campaign.
