Europa league schedule change for Tottenham

According to Eurosport, Tottenham have been handed a schedule change for their round-of-16 Europa League games against Dinamo Zagreb. This is due to a fixture clash with rivals Arsenal, who are set to play Olympiacos.

Both teams were scheduled to play their away games on March 11 and home legs on the 18th. However, rules stipulate that two clubs from the same city cannot have games on the same night.

Arsenal qualifying through the domestic trophy was given priority and they retain their original fixture dates. However, that meant having Tottenham’s fixtures reversed. UEFA confirmed the same.

“UEFA can confirm that the UEFA Europa League Round-of-16 first and second leg-ties involving GNK Dinamo and Tottenham Hotspur have been reversed. The matches will take place in London and Zagreb respectively.”

This does come as good news given they don’t have to take a hectic trip to the capital ahead of a North London derby against Arsenal. Spurs slalomed past a hapless Wolfsberger side in the last round with an aggregate of 8-1 and were paired with Dinamo Zagreb for the next round.
