Micah Richards tips Gareth Bale to stay at Tottenham

According to Sky Sports (h/t Football.london), Micah Richards believes Gareth Bale could take a pay cut to stay back at Tottenham. Bale returned to Spurs on loan after 7 years at Real Madrid. However, the former Manchester City defender feels that Bale would take a pay cut and remain there rather than return to Real Madrid.

While Gareth Bale took quite some time to readjust, the Welshman seems to have found back his rhythm. He has now scored 4 goals in his last three games, taking his tally up to 10 goals for the season.

Spurs have an option of triggering another year on loan at the club and his agent has also spoken about that possibility being explored by the club. He said that this was the club Bale wants to stay at and there should be no problems in case he does want to extend his stay at the club.

Currently, Bale’s mammoth wages are split between Spurs and Real Madrid, the latter paying the greater half. However, Richards thinks that Bale would stay back in north London and consider reducing his pay packet.

“I think he stays at Spurs. I think he would take a pay cut to stay at Spurs.”

Even Real Madrid are keen to offload the winger as the relationship between Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane and Bale have broken down. Spurs won’t mind keeping Bale on a permanent deal given how well he has started to play.
