Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho believes star striker Harry Kane will be fit to face Arsenal this weekend

Star striker Harry Kane was the difference-maker on the night for Tottenham Hotspur against Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League on Thursday. The 27-year-old scored both goals in what was an emphatic 2-0 win.

Concerns were raised when the player was taken off in the 84th minute after picking up what looked like a knock. With the North London derby up next, the striker’s potential absence would have been a major blow.

Thankfully Mourinho has positive news to deliver on that front. According to the Mirror, the Tottenham Hotspur boss believes his ace goalscorer will be ready to face the Gunners in one of the biggest games in the footballing calendar.

“I hope he will be fit, I believe so and I don’t think he will miss out on being there but let’s see the reaction after the game.”

With 21 goals and 15 assists in just 34 matches, Kane leads the club in both goals scored and assists made this season. While Carlos Vionicus is a decent backup, he lacks the game-changing ability of the English skipper.

Kane also has an excellent record against Arsenal. He has scored 11 goals and assisted three more in just 13 games against the Gunners. One would expect him to add to that tally this weekend. (h/t Transfermarkt)

A different dimension!

Mourinho believes Kane’s knock is not serious. While it is yet to be confirmed, it does not appear as if the striker will be forced to sit out altogether.

“I don’t believe it is anything big. Sunday is a match everyone wants to play and little things will not stop him. I don’t have the feeling it is anything serious.”

Mourinho is happy with Kane’s performances and believes the striker gives the team a new dimension. Hopefully, he can continue from where he left off this weekend.

“With Harry on the pitch it is a different story for us.”
