Mikel Arteta praises Jose Mourinho for Gareth Bale resurgence at Tottenham

According to the Metro, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has lavished praise on Tottenham counterpart Jose Mourinho crediting him for the resurgence of Gareth Bale.

The 31-year-old Bale returned to Tottenham last summer, joining on a season-long loan from Real Madrid. However, the Welshman endured a torrid start to life back in London due to injuries and lack of form.

But Bale has been able to turn things around for the good over the last few weeks, showing signs of the class and quality that he possesses. The Welsh wing-wizard has scored some important goals while his all-round play has also looked much sharper of late.

And Arteta has credited this spectacular turnround to Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho.

“The way he’s come back obviously it’s merit to the player because he’s shown that he wants to do it again. But as well the club and the manager and the coaching staff probably they find a way to get the best out of him when people thought that wasn’t the case and I think that’s what good managers do and good players.”

Tottenham face off against Arsenal in the second North London derby of the 2020/21 season on Sunday at the Emirates. The reverse fixture saw Spurs beat their eternal rivals 2-0 with goals coming from Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Both Kane and Son have been enjoying splendid seasons and with Bale also jumping onto the bandwagon now, things could get messy for Arsenal on Sunday evening.

Tottenham are seventh in the league standings currently. Jose Mourinho & co. cannot afford to drop points anymore if the club is to stand a chance of finishing in top four. But it bodes well for us that the attacking unit is starting to fire on all cylinders ahead of the trip to the Emirates.
