Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho aims dig at Arsenal ahead of North London Derby
According to The Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has taken a swipe at Arsenal ahead of the North London Derby this weekend.
Tottenham travel to the Emirates to take on arch-rivals Arsenal in the second NLD of the season. The first one saw Spurs beat the Gunners 2-0 with goals coming from Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
Heading into the game, Tottenham are in a good moment, having picked up five wins in a row across all competitions. Arsenal, meanwhile, have won three of their last six games in all competitions.
The Gunners are currently tenth in the league table, seven points off of Tottenham in seventh. And Mourinho, in bullish mood, has claimed that he does not look at teams below his side in the table but only on those above, aiming a swipe at Spurs’ rivals.
“I look up, I don’t look down. If Arsenal was seven points ahead of us I would look to them but because we have seven points more than them, I don’t look down.”
Despite his comments, Mourinho went on to praise Arsenal as a club steeped in history and added that they were a team building for the future.
“Like us they’re trying to build a better future. I have total respect for them.”

Tottenham are five points behind Chelsea in fourth in the table. With the race for the top four extremely tight, Mourinho & co. cannot afford to drop any points moving forward. And it certainly bodes well for us that the team has been doing brilliantly in recent games ahead of the big derby on Sunday.
