Arsenal give team news and injury update before North London derby vs Tottenham Hotspur

A statement by Arsenal Football Club (h/t football.london) gave an update on the Gunners’ team ahead of the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur and announced that there is no new injury news for the club.

This means that Spurs’ opponents on Sunday night will have the whole squad available of selection. The statement clarified this as it stated that the club encountered no fitness issues after their 3-1 UEFA Europa League win against Olympiacos in Greece last week.

“There are no health or injury issues to report following Thursday’s match in Athens against Olympiacos. All players in the men’s first-team squad are currently available for selection.”

Emile Smith-Rowe was a doubt for Arsenal in the past few weeks due to a hip injury and missed a couple of games because of it. But he was fit enough to come on for the Gunners in the latter stages of their win against the Greek side last week.

A big task ahead

This means that he could be pushing for a starting berth when the Gunners welcome Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, 14th March. Ahead of the game, Arsenal are 10th in the Premier League after 27 games.

Compared to them, Spurs are in 7th, with 45 points from the same amount of games, and aim to finish the season in the top-4 bracket.

A win could see Jose Mourinho’s men climb up to 5th on the table, overtaking West Ham United, who play after the North London derby concludes.

As for Arsenal, this season seems beyond saving and a Europa League spot seems like a realistic goal.
