Tottenham News: Hugo Lloris hints at dressing room unrest following UEL exit
As per the latest news update from the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has hinted that all is not well within the dressing room following the club’s shock exit from the Europa League.
Tottenham faced Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb in the second leg of their Europa League Round of 16 on Thursday. Spurs went into the game with a two-goal cushion from the first leg, having defeated Dinamo 2-0 in the first leg at home.
However, there as chaos and implosion in Croatia as Mislav Orsic scored a hat-trick to pull off a huge upset beating Tottenham 3-0 and thus eliminating them from the competition. It was a hapless display from Jose Mourinho’s men with the team looking lackadaisical for the most part on Thursday.
And speaking after the game, captain Lloris branded the Tottenham performance as a disgrace, seemingly questioning Mourinho’s tactics, like he had done after the defeat to Arsenal.
“The way we play is just not enough, not enough. We have a lack of basics, lack of fundamentals and all our performance is just in relation to that.”
The Frenchman also went on to hint that there was some tension within the dressing room as well, insinuating that all is not well inside the club.
“You cannot let it down, if you play or don’t play. To behave as a team is the most difficult thing in football, whatever is the decision of the manager you have to follow the way of the team.
“If you follow the team only when you are in the starting XI, that causes big problems for the team because you pay in one moment and you’re going to pay in your season.”
