Tottenham News: Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish set to miss weekend clash

In what will be good news for Tottenham, an update from Birmingham Live has claimed that Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish will miss the weekend clash.

Tottenham travel to the Villa Park this Sunday hoping to turn their fortunes around after two devastating losses against Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb in the Premier League and UEFA Europa League respectively.

Given that Villa are very much in contention for the European football spots, Sunday’s game will potentially be a six-pointer for both Tottenham and the Villans. And ahead of the game, there is some semblance of good news for Spurs as Villa talisman Jack Grealish will be unavailable for selection.

Grealish has been struggling with injuries of late, having been out of action since over a month due to a shin problem. However, it had been reported earlier in the week that the 25-year-old could be back in action on Sunday against Tottenham.

But now, Birmingham Live has insisted that the Aston Villa superstar will indeed miss out on Sunday due to the injury. The report also goes on to add that this injury was the reason behind Grealish’s absence from the England national team for the upcoming set of fixtures during the international break.

It bodes well for Tottenham as Villa have managed to collect just five points out of a possible fifteen during Grealish’s absence. Nonetheless, goes without saying that Jose Mourinho’s team must themselves up their game after the last two results.

Despite Grealish’s absence there are other players like Ollie Watkins, Bertrand Traore, John McGinn who can hurt Tottenham at the weekend.
