Tottenham target Marcel Sabitzer drops Man United, Liverpool hints

According to the Express, RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has dropped a hint that he would be open to joining Manchester United and Liverpool amid Tottenham interest.

The 27-year-old is one of the best central midfielders the Bundesliga has to offer and has grown into a pivotal cog in the engine room for Julian Nagelsmann’s outfit.

However, Sabitzer is set to enter the final year of his contract with the Saxony based outfit at the end of the season. This has sparked a lot of speculations surrounding his future.

A recent report from BILD (h/t Daily Mail) stated that Tottenham Hotspur were keen on signing the Austrian international. It also added that Sabitzer was also courting interest from Spurs’ Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United.

And, Sabitzer was recently quizzed over whether he can visualize himself playing for either of Liverpool and Manchester United, the Austrian international replied in the affirmative.

“I can imagine it a lot.”

This is likely to come as a blow for Tottenham Hotspur, who were said to be the favourites to sign Sabitzer, having been pursuing him for a number of months now. But with the entry of Liverpool and Manchester United into the picture, things seem to have turned around. (h/t Express)

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Sabitzer, given his contract situation, could be available for a price of £36m in the summer transfer window. However, Tottenham will have a huge battle on their hands to beat Liverpool and Manchester United to his transfer.

Missing out on Champions League football could further dent any hopes of signing the Austrian international as well. An important summer beckons for Tottenham, as well as Sabitzer.
