Jose Mourinho has some advice for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of Man United game

According to news from MEN, Jose Mourinho had some advice for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of Tottenham vs Manchester United. The former United manager advised the current one to not use the reverse fixture as motivation for the upcoming game.

Back in October last year, Spurs absolutely annihilated United at Old Trafford by a scarcely believable scoreline of 6-1. Even though United got the first goal, Spurs roared back into it and were also helped by Anthony Martial being sent off.

Nonetheless, both sides have endured wildly different fortunes since then with Spurs struggling to get into the top four and United tightening their grip on second place. Mourinho spoke ahead of the crucial game and advised Solskjaer to not use the reverse fixture as means of motivation for the coming game.

“I believe that 6-1 doesn’t reflect the reality. It can happen. Of course it can happen, between two great, the results they can happen in an isolated way. I go much more in the direction of the other two previous matches between us and United. We lost 2-1 at Old Trafford, with the penalty, and we draw 1-1 at home last season, also with a penalty. I think this is more the reality. We are not far from each other so I think it is going to be a difficult match for both.”

Spurs will have the chance to do a double over United if they win. However, as Mourinho said, it will not be like the reverse fixture given United’s improved performances of late. A win would be important for the club though with top-four at stake.
