Tottenham Transfer News: Southampton ready to move for Harry Winks
According to transfer news from Football Insider, Southampton are keen on signing Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks. The Englishman has struggled for minutes this season and could be heading for the exit this summer.
When Tottenham signed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, it was seen as a huge coup. Along with Tanguy Ndombele, he has been Mourinho’s first-choice midfielder. This is rightly so because the duo has performed exceptionally well in central midfield.
This has left someone like Winks in limbo. Winks has been a good player but in the chances that he has been given this season, he hasn’t shown his full potential. He could point to the fact that he has been handed just 7 league starts this season.
Southampton are scouring the market for a midfielder. They have a rather small contingent of central midfielders in the form of Oriol Romeu, James Ward-Prowse, Will Smallbone and Ibrahima Diallo. An additional midfielder capable of playing in two or three positions would help them a lot. (h/t Football Insider)

Spurs are also stepping up their efforts to sign Marcel Sabitzer which would further push Winks down the pecking order. The club could look to sell Winks in order to raise some funds and Southampton could be where he plies his trade next season.
