Transfer News: Tottenham line up Mike Maignan as top target for goalkeeping spot
Heading into the summer transfer window, there is a degree of uncertainty over the goalkeeping situation at Tottenham. Club captain and current first-choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has shown signs of age catching up him at various points since last season. Furthermore, his contract expires in year as well.
So, it is important that the club soon identifies and secures a long-term replacement for the Frenchman. To that end, Spurs have been linked with a host of goalkeepers of late including West Bromwich Albion’s Sam Johnstone and Koen Casteels of Wolfsburg.
However, as per the aforementioned report, it is Lille’s Mike Maignan that Tottenham have placed at the top of the wishlist to replace Hugo Lloris at the club. A former PSG academy man, the shot-stopper made the switch to Lille in 2015 in search of regular first-team football and has thrived at the club.
Till date he has made 174 appearances for Les Dogues keeping 62 clean sheets in the process. He has been critical to Lille’s rise to prominence in Ligue 1 over the past couple of seasons.
The report adds that an offer in the range of €17-€18m could be enough for the French club to parting ways with the 25-year-old at the end of the season.

However, Tottenham are set to face competition from Serie A giants AC Milan who are also interested in Mike Maignan amid the uncertainty surrounding Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Italian international is out of contract this summer and talks haven’t gone as per plans. So, the Rossoneri are also keeping an eye on Maignan should Donnarumma end up leaving. It remains to be seen if Spurs act on the interest in the Frenchman this summer.
