Tottenham move for former Arsenal star Wojciech Szczesny rubbished by Fabrizio Romano

Taking to Twitter, reputed Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has ruled out any possibility of Tottenham signing former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Szczesny, 30, spent nearly a decade with our local rivals, having joined in 2008 as a youth player before becoming a first-team regular at the Emirates. The Poland goalkeeper left the Gunners for Juventus in the summer of 2017 and has evolved into one of the most reliable shot-stoppers in the Serie A.

Szczesny, till date, has made 131 appearances for Juventus and has gone on to win the Serie A title on three occasions in the process. In somewhat bizarre reports, the 30-year-old had been linked with a move to Tottenham ahead of the summer transfer window as claimed by Romano.

Signing a goalkeeper could very well be on the cards for Tottenham this summer. Hugo Lloris, at 34, is entering the final phase of his career. The Frenchman, despite some solid displays of late, has shown signs of decline. And with his contract expiring in a year, the time to replace him under the woodwork could be upon us.

Joe Hart, for all the experience that he brings, cannot be the first-choice goalkeeper. So, signing someone may become essential this summer. And Romano, in his update, has claimed that a decision will be taken at the end of the season.

However, the journalist has rubbished the claims that a move for Szczesny is being considered by the club. He insists that there has been no contact with Juventus or his agents made by Tottenham over a summer move.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

This one was never really up for debate. A move for Szczesny to Tottenham would never be considered by the club or the player himself. Just another baseless rumour, which thankfully, Romano has quashed.
