Danny Rose could return to Tottenham training after Mourinho sacked

According to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur star Danny Rose could return to first-team training following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho saw his tenure as the manager of Tottenham get terminated on Monday, just 17 months after he had take over the reins from Mauricio Pochettino. It was a turbulent spell which always looked doomed following the decline in performances and results since the turn of the year.

Reports have claimed that the Tottenham squad wasn’t happy with the manager’s methods and tactics. And eventually, Daniel Levy had to act on it before things took a turn for the worse.

While the timing of the decision is certainly questionable as we face Manchester City in the finals of the Carabao Cup, this could open up the door for one of the players that had fallen out under Mourinho – Danny Rose – to return to first-team training.

Rose had quite the falling out with the Portuguese last season as was seen in the Amazon documentary following which he was shipped off to Newcastle United on loan in January 2020.

Upon returning at the end of the season, the 30-year-old was exiled from the first-team, with him not being handed a kit number and made to train with the reserves. However, now that Mourinho is out of the club, Rose could return to training with the senior team, as per McGrath.

It has been confirmed that former midfielder Ryan Mason will take charge of the team on an interim basis till the end of the season. And while that may open the doors for Rose to return to training, it is unlikely that he will remain at the club beyond this season, with his contract expiring in a month.
