Transfer News: Tottenham in line for Ugurcan Cakir signing
According to Turkish news outlet Fotospor (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur in line for the transfer of Ugurcan Cakir from Trabzonspor, with the Turkish Super Lig outfit receiving three offers for the goalkeeper.
A product of the Trabzonspor youth academy, Cakir has been a regular member of the first-team since a short loan stint away at 1461 Trabzon. Till date, he has made 110 appearances, in which he has kept 26 clean sheets and has grown into the club captain. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The 25-year-old has been continuously linked with an exit from Trabzonspor for a while now. And, it seems like Tottenham are one of the clubs interested in securing the transfer of Cakir in the upcoming transfer window. (h/t Sport Witness)
There have been concerns surrounding the form of captain and first-choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. While there have been some impressive displays recently, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has made some errors that has cost the team at times over the past couple of years. At 34, he is entering the twilight of his career and has just a year left on his contract.
Now, Cakir seems to have also registered on the radars of Tottenham. The report goes on to state that Trabzonspor have already received three offers for the 25-year-old, and while it doesn’t specify if one of those is from Spurs, it says that the club are ‘in line’ for his signing. A fee of €20m with a sell-on fee less than 25% would be enough to get the deal over the line.

Cakir has fared decently at Trabzonspor. However, there are better options out there than the 25-year-old for the club to consider if they are planning to replace Lloris.
