Brendan Rodgers addresses speculations amid Tottenham Hotspur links

According to Leicestershire Live, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has responded to rumours linking him to the Tottenham Hotspur job.

Tottenham are without a full-time manager currently after Jose Mourinho was sacked on Monday morning. The decision to let go of the Portuguese tactician was made after Spurs had crashed out of the Europa League and had been reduced to outsiders in the Premier League top-four race.

Former midfielder Ryan Mason has been handed the reins of the first-team on an interim basis till the end of the season while the search for a full-time, permanent replacement takes place. And, Rodgers has emerged as one of the leading candidates to fill in the vacancy created by Mourinho’s axing. (h/t Leicestershire Live)

The Northern Irishman has done a splendid job at Leicester since taking over in 2019 after he brought an end to his ultra-successful stint at Celtic. Prior to that, Rodgers had earned plaudits for the work he did at Liverpool, whom he took to the brink of their first-ever Premier League title.

However, Rodgers, while acknowledging Tottenham to be a fantastic club, has claimed that he is perfectly happy at Leicester.

“I have always said I absolutely love it here. Tottenham is a fantastic club, it’s one of the big clubs in this country, it’s a huge club. My focus is purely here. I’m at a world-class training facility, the project we’re in here, we still want to develop, we still have a lot of work to do here. I have a great connection with the players and the board, and we have plans to keep progressing.”

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Under his tutelage, Leicester have turned into genuine top-four contenders. Having missed out on a UCL spot last year on the final day of the season, the Foxes look dead on to finish inside the top four this time out as they are currently third in the league.

And someone of his ilk could certainly be a fine choice to replace Mourinho. But it seems like that may not materialise.
