Transfer News: West Brom to demand £10m for Tottenham linked Sam Johnstone

According to transfer news from Evening Standard, West Brom will demand £10million for Sam Johnstone who has been linked to Tottenham. The Baggies goalkeeper is also being courted by West Ham. Both the London clubs are looking to upgrade their men between the sticks and Johnstone has caught the eye.

Lloris has been with the club for almost a decade now and has been the undisputed first choice in goal. However, over the course of the season, he has shown signs of ageing. Add to it, the Frenchman’s contract expires at the end of next season and he has been linked with a move to PSG. Joe Hart is also at the wrong end of his career to be considered for the role, which means that a new keeper might be on the wishlist of the club.

West Brom’s Sam Johnstone is also being looked at, as per the report. The former Manchester United academy graduate has been a sole bright spot in a season that seems set to end in relegation for the Baggies. They are very likely to go down barring a miracle of sorts. However, the 28-year-old English keeper is keen on staying in the top-flight.

With relegation all but certain for West Brom, the club could be hit further financially and might have to let go of some of their biggest assets. Johnstone is valued at a healthy £10million, which seems about right for a keeper of his potential.

Spurs could do with a keeper that can take up the mantle for the next 5-6 years and Johnstone could just provide them with that option. His contract also ends in 2022, meaning that West Brom won’t be in a position to demand more than the aforementioned value. However, they will need to start working on the deal soon as West Ham are also after him.
