Tottenham Hotspur loanee Juan Foyth had an injury scare against Arsenal in UEFA Europa League win
A few hours after Villarreal beat Arsenal on Thursday, Tottenham Hotspur loanee Juan Foyth tweeted (h/t football.london) that he will go undergo a scan soon for the injury sustained against the Gunners.
Foyth is on loan at the Yellow Submarines since the start of this campaign and has seen his stocks go up after an impressive season in Spain. And this week, the 23-year-old was involved in two important matches.
The Argentine defender was a part of the Villarreal side that lost 2-1 to Barcelona last weekend. But a few days later, he starred in a win for Villarreal by the same scoreline against Arsenal in the UEFA Europa League.
The two sides met in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final which saw the Spanish side go 2-0 up within the first half-hour.
But the Gunners got the all-important away goal through a Nicolas Pepe penalty in the 73rd minute despite being a man down after Dani Ceballos’ sending off around the hour mark.
Foyth on the treatment table
However, Foyth could not finish the game. The young defender was forced off late in the game with what seemed like a hamstring injury for him.
And he came out after the match to reveal that scans are soon to follow. Of course, like everyone else, he wishes that the injury is not serious and that he can rejoin training as soon as possible.

“Important victory against a difficult opponent. A pity not to have been able to finish the match on such a special night. Tomorrow they will do a study to know the state of the injury. I hope it is nothing serious and that I can return as soon as possible with my colleagues.”
Foyth, of course, plays for ex-Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, at Villarreal, who has used him in a number of positions this season. This includes stints at right-back, defensive midfield, and centre-back.

The Spanish club has an option to purchase Foyth permanently once his loan move ends but Spurs fans would be hoping that the talented Argentine makes his way back to N17. (h/t football.london)
