Tottenham fans reject Daniel Levy meeting offer; want sit-down with Joe Lewis
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust has rejected a meeting offer from club chairman Daniel Levy and have instead demanded a sit-down with owner Joe Lewis.
The fallout from the defunct European Super League continues to make waves as the Tottenham fans are pushing for the resignation of the current board and have called for fan representation as well.
Levy, who is facing the brunt of this, had offered a meeting with himself and the entire board of directors to discuss the grievances. However, the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust (THST) has declined the offer and instead have asked for a meeting with owner Joe Lewis.
Six-point plan proposed for the club’s future
THST also released a six-point plan which they want to discuss with Lewis, which are as follows:
- Put distance between the club and the decision to break away by replacing the current executive board.
- The owners to make a public commitment that any costs or fines incurred by … the ESL … will be paid directly by the owners and not be drawn from club funds.
- Create a new club board that includes independent directors whose sole purpose is to protect and promote the interests of THFC as a football club, not its shareholders or owners.
- Proactively and positively engage with the government’s fan-led review to rebalance the current ownership structure in favour of supporters.
- Commit to full prior consultation with supporters on key non-playing/coaching decisions, and to introduce a system that requires the consent of supporters for those key decisions.
- Commit to the creation of a share ownership structure that broadens ownership of the club and could potentially provide an injection of cash.
Statement issued by THST
“While we are continuing to work with club staff to ensure fans’ interests are taken into account on such issues as ticketing and the return of supporters to grounds, there has been no communication with the club’s board. Part-owner Daniel Levy has offered a full board-to-board meeting, but we have made it clear that business as usual is not an option. We want to meet with the club’s owners, and to clearly establish the basis for any meeting before it takes place.”

Over 90% of the THST members called for the current executive board to resign once the current season was over later this month. It now remains to be seen how the club responds after this latest development.
