Transfer News: Tottenham dealt blow in Florian Neuhaus pursuit
According to German news outlet Bild (h/t Inside Futbol), Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their transfer pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus.
Neuhaus, 24, has grown into one of the best midfielders on display in the Bundesliga over the past couple of seasons. Having signed for Gladbach in 2017, the German spent a season away on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf before going into becoming an established member of the first-team at Borussia Park.
A solid all-round midfielder, with good technical ability, Neuhaus has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur while reigning Premier League champions Liverpool had also shown an interest in him. (h/t Inside Futbol)
Tottenham’s interest in the midfielder is understandable given as the team has lacked a natural partner for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg since his arrival from Southampton last summer. Both Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks don’t possess that bit of quality on the ball to compliment the Dane well enough while Tanguy Ndombele has blown hot and cold over the course of the season.
Thus, adding someone like Neuhaus would have been a fine move for the club. Apart form Tottenham and Liverpool, Neuhaus has also attracted interest from German champions Bayern Munich as well. (h/t Inside Futbol)

However, it seems like we may end up facing a defeat in pursuit of the 24-year-old as he is set to stay in Germany for the time being. The midfielder is contracted with the club till the summer of 2024 and has a release clause worth £34m. But he is currently not thinking of switching allegiances, handing the Foals a boost while delivering a blow to Tottenham. (h/t Inside Futbol)
