Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi addresses future amid Tottenham rumours
Speaking after his team’s win over Parma (h/t Metro), Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi has hinted that he is likely to stay put at the club amid rumours linking him to the Tottenham Hotspur job.
Tottenham are still searching for a new permanent manager after sacking Jose Mourinho over three weeks ago. Ryan Mason has taken over the first-team duties on an interim basis till an appointment is made by the club.
A host of managers have been linked since Mourinho was sacked last month. And, Inzaghi has emerged as one of the potential candidates to take over the reins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before next season.
The Italian tactician has been the Lazio first-team manager for five years now, having first started as a youth coach at the capital club. The 45-year-old has won a few cups during his time in charge while also securing European football for his team on a consistent basis.
Indeed, the recent win over Parma once again guaranteed European football for the Biancocelesti, who are set for a sixth-place finish. And, speaking after the game, Inzaghi revealed that he had scheduled meetings with club president Claudio Lotito and director Iglio Tare to discuss their plans and targets for the future – thus hinting that he could stay at the club beyond this season. “There are still three games to go. In eight or nine days we will sit down with Tare and Lotito, and talk about the goals, what we didn’t manage and what we did. ‘Always with the utmost peace of mind.”

Inzaghi’s current contract with Lazio expires at the end of the season, meaning his future is not set in stone as of yet. There remains a chance that he could decide to leave Lazio once the deal expires and it will be interesting to see whether Tottenham pounce or not.
