Transfer News: Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris set to stay amid PSG interest

According to transfer news from Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has decided to stay put at the club amid speculations over his future.

However, at 34, Lloris has started to show signs of age catching up with him. Even though he is still capable of producing the spectacular every now and then, the 2018 World Cup winner has also made some grievous errors over the past couple of years that have hurt the team.

With Lloris entering the final year of his contract with Tottenham at the end of the season, there have been transfer speculations surrounding his future. It was even claimed that the Frenchman would potentially reunite with Pochettino at PSG next season.

However, that may not end up being the case as it is now being said that Lloris is set to sign a new contract with Tottenham and extend his stay at the club. The aforementioned report states that the Frenchman held talks with chairman Daniel Levy before arriving at a decision.

The 34-year-old is willing to stay on under whoever the new manager will be at Tottenham while the club also does not want to lose a player who is a huge presence on and off the field.

It remains to be seen whether this leads to Tottenham calling off the pursuit of a new goalkeeper in the summer. The Lilywhites have been linked with West Brom’s Sam Johnstone, among others, but Lloris’ decision will play a huge role in whether the club pursues a move.
