Manchester United to make opening offer for Tottenham star Harry Kane

According to Tribal Football (h/t Express), Tottenham are set to field an opening offer from Premier League rivals Manchester United for the services of superstar striker Harry Kane.

The 27-year-old Tottenham academy graduate has enjoyed yet another sublime season on a personal level and looks set to win the Premier League Golden Boot. On the team front though, there has been little in terms of success, as Spurs’ wait for a first trophy since 2008 continues.

This has stirred up talks of an exit for Kane, who is yet to win a single major trophy in his career as he enters his peak footballing years. Manchester United have been alerted by the development and are now planning an opening offer for the England captain.

As per the report, the Red Devils are plotting an offer of around £90m for Kane, which would make him their club-record signing. This, in spite of the fact that they recently extended the contract of veteran striker Edinson Cavani by another year. However, it is also stated that Manchester United completely expect Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to turn down their offer. (h/t Express)

But the 20-time English champions are hopeful that an initial offer, even if it gets turned down, might prompt Kane into pushing for an exit in the summer. (h/t Express)

Kane is undoubtedly our most important player. However, given the way the campaign has gone, coupled with the uncertainty surrounding the managerial situation at the club, it is only understandable if he is considering his future at the club. However, a sale to a direct rival in the Premier League is unlikely to take place given how Levy operates.
