Ryan Mason wants to return as permanent Tottenham manager in the future

According to the Irish Independent, Ryan Mason harbours an ambition to return as a permanent Tottenham manager in the future. The interim manager is currently focused on seeing out the last game of the season as his future also hangs in the balance.

Mason, a former Tottenham midfielder, had to retire after a horrific skull injury. However, the 29-year-old had been working as a youth coach at the club when he got the call from Daniel Levy to take over on an interim basis following the sacking of Jose Mourinho last month.

In what is his first job as a manager, Mason has now overseen six games, winning three of those, although Tottenham did lose the big one against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final. Nevertheless, the team’s performance in the wins against Southampton, Wolves as well as Sheffield United has been encouraging.

Nonetheless, our interim boss spoke out on his ambitions with the club as a manager.

“My personal ambitions I have to put aside at this moment. I don’t really want to think about what I want or need. “I have loved representing this football club, to be given this opportunity at this age has been amazing. Would I have said no to this football club? No.

“There is always stuff to learn from. I would never say never in football, things happen you don’t expect.”

While the optimism around Mason is understandable, Spurs need to be careful with who they appoint. Ryan Mason is still learning the ropes and handing him the job might be too big a gamble. For now, the club are still looking at some of the names available out there.
