PSG director Leonardo issues Mauricio Pochettino future update amid Tottenham links

Speaking to Europe 1 (h/t Eurosport), PSG sporting director issued a major update on the future of manager Mauricio Pochettino amid links with Tottenham Hotspur.

Pochettino joined PSG as manager only in January earlier this year, almost 15 months after he was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur. In his short stint with the Parisian giants, the 49-year-old led them to two trophies, although his team end up coming short in the Ligue 1 title race, losing out to LOSC Lille.

Even though he has been in charge at PSG for less than six months, exit speculations are already gathering with Tottenham Hotspur intent on bringing the Argentine back to the club.

Indeed, Spurs are on the lookout for a new manager after sacking Jose Mourinho towards the end of April. And, chairman Daniel Levy seems to have set his sights on a reunion with Pochettino. And, reports last week claimed that the Argentine had informed PSG that he would want an exit amid rising speculations.

Leonardo, though, has rubbished any such rumours, insisting that Pochettino still has two years left on his contract with PSG and is very happy at the club. (h/t Eurosport)

“MAURICIO POCHETTINO HAS TWO YEARS ON HIS CONTRACT WITH PSG, AND WE ARE VERY HAPPY.”

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Pochettino spent over five years with Tottenham, having first taken over in 2014 from fellow Premier League club Southampton. While he may not have won any trophies at the club, there is no denying the amazing work that the 49-year-old did at the club, helping Spurs establish as a genuine title contender and a permanent fixture in the Champions League.

His potential return would, thus, be of a lot of appeal for fans, as well as Levy and the players. But Leonardo’s statements do cast doubts over whether such a move is possible this summer.
