Manchester City issue strong transfer statement amid links to Tottenham ace Harry Kane
According to the Evening Standard, Manchester City have dropped a major hint that they will go all out to sign Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane in the summer transfer window.
Manchester City enjoyed a successful 2020/21 campaign during which they cruised to the Premier League title after a slow start while also lifting the Carabao Cup. However, they did come up short in the UEFA Champions League, falling to Chelsea 1-o in the finals in Porto.
The Cityzens also lost star striker and club legend Sergio Aguero, who signed for Barcelona on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract. With a replacement being sought for the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, Harry Kane has emerged as the top transfer target for Manchester City.
And, fManchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has vowed that the club will be sending a strong message to their rivals in the upcoming transfer market, insisting they will do everything to get the right replacement for Aguero.
“Having won the League it is not the team to sit back and be content, that is the biggest mistake. This is the time to send a strong message that there is no contentment, you are not satisfied with just winning the league.
“We lose a very important legend in Sergio Aguero, very hard shoes to fill but I am confident we will find the right player to fill those shoes. The squad is a phenomenal squad, you don’t win the Premier League and get to the Champions League final if you don’t have a good squad. We will bring quality into the squad in a couple of key positions.”

Kane has been a brilliant player for Tottenham for a number of years now. However, with the club not meeting his ambitions of winning a trophy, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see him leave before the next season. And, with City warning that they will not rest on their laurels, expect them to take out the chequebook and splash the cash on Kane.
