Tottenham submit offer for Fabio Paratici to take over as sporting director

According to reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer to bring in Fabio Paratici as the new sporting director of the club.

Paratici had been the sporting director at Juventus for eleven years and oversaw some of their most successful transfers in the form of Paul Pogba, Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo among many others.

However, following the disappointing 2020/21 campaign, the 48-year-old left the job and is currently unattached. Smelling the opportunity, Tottenham have been lurking to make a move for the Italian for a while now.

And, it now seems like Spurs, indeed, have acted on their interest in Paratici and have submitted a proposal for him to take over as the club’s new sporting director, as reported by Romano. This comes after the Italian journalist, in a recent interview with Chris Cowlin (h/t Football.london), had revealed that the club was looking to add someone in a directorial role to oversee the transfer business.

“The position of Director of Football will be important. I’m told they are exploring these kind of opportunities to put someone new on the board. But it will be important to be on the same point as Daniel Levy, the potential Director of Football, and the new manager. So, they want to build something new with this kind of structure.”

A reunion with Antonio Conte?

This development comes in the aftermath of news breaking that Tottenham are in advanced negotiations to appoint Antonio Conte as the club’s next manager.

Conte worked with Paratici at Juventus and the pair enjoyed a fruitful partnership before the Italian tactician parted ways from the Bianconeri. And, Tottenham could potentially be set to recreate the partnership this summer.

However, Romano does add that Paratici is yet to respond to Tottenham’s offer and will make a decision in the next few days.
