Transfer News: Tottenham join race for Ben White
According to transfer news from Express, Tottenham have joined the race for Brighton defender Ben White. While it was understood that Arsenal were after the highly-rated defender, now the likes of Spurs, Man United, Real Madrid and Liverpool have joined the chase.
One look at the Spurs backline and it wouldn’t take a genius to figure out that it is in need of help. Toby Alderweireld is slowly edging towards the end of his playing days. Davinson Sanchez gives the feeling that he’s unreliable. Only Joe Rodon has looked a bit settled but he is still too young to be leading the backline by himself.
White has had an impressive season for Brighton and has looked comfortable in making the step up to the Premier League. He was at Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United in 2019-20, where he helped the club win promotion.
Arsenal were said to be leading the race for White. However, it seems that a lot more clubs including Tottenham have entered the fray for his signing. Brighton have slapped a healthy £50million valuation on their asset and have already turned down a £40million offer from Arsenal.

It is no surprise to see Spurs trying to sign the Brighton defender. White has been named in the England squad for the Euros as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold. His stock could rise further if he gets a chance to impress for the national side. Brighton don’t need to sell and they hold all the cards in this situation.
