Transfer News: Leicester City join Tottenham Hotspur in Domenico Berard pursuit
The Italian forward has impressed at Sassuolo and has caught the eye of the two English clubs. The news of the Foxes’ interest comes after a report by The Express, as covered by ToTheLaneAndBack, that Fabio Paritici is laying the groundwork to secure Berardi’s signature.
Another Premier League side linked with him are Liverpool. It is believed that any potential suitor would have to dish out around £43million to land the Italian international.
The former Juventus forward scored 17 times and registered 8 assists for Sassuolo in all competitions this season. That has earned him a call-up to the Italy national team at UEFA Euros 2020, where has featured in two 3-0 wins for them.
Race for Domenico Berardi
With Gareth Bale departing and Erik Lamela lacking game time and form, Berardi can be a neat addition to the squad down the right flank.
Moreover, his versatility permits him to play in multiple positions on the field, including just behind the striker as well as on the left wing. However, Spurs must be wary of competition.
Both the Foxes and the Reds respectively offer Europa League and Champions League football next season. The Lilywhites, meanwhile, could only manage to qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League.
