Tottenham Hotspur frustrated with leaks of managerial targets

According to news from Evening Standard, Tottenham are frustrated with the continuous leaks of their managerial targets. The North London club are trying to keep the names of the managerial candidates away from the public but have been unsuccessful so far.

It is reaching the point of absurdity given how Spurs are struggling so bad in appointing their new manager. Two months have gone by, and the club are no closer to naming their next permanent manager.

Prominent names had been linked, but they decided to move on to another project. Managers at other clubs were also targeted, but they have refused to budge. Last week saw the dramatic collapse of Paulo Fonseca’s appointment and the subsequent link and collapse of Gennaro Gattuso.

This has said to have irked senior official at Spurs, given how every possible name was leaked to the public. They now feel that it has created a chaotic situation regarding the managerial appointment. A particular case was with Antonio Conte, whose situation was overblown.

Club chairman Daniel Levy spoke out on the whole situation.

“What’s been interesting, I must have had about 30 different names from fans. Some of the individuals that have been mentioned that have apparently rejected us, we haven’t even spoken to.”

It is understandable that the club wants to avoid these leaks as it paints them in a bad picture. However, during these times, these things happen with so many sources covering the whole saga. Perhaps the best thing for them would be to appoint someone eligible soon and end the discussion.
